Folks, it's been fun but The layoff list for non-managers has been finalized, and I'm on it. [I'd otherwise have been content writing about Muppets for the rest of my life but] It's time to see what kind of surprises the world has in store!

A newsroom update - We have a Spokesman-Review time capsule. Our S-R people have been filling it with documents and small objects that we perhaps wouldn't give much thought today, but in the year 2025 might be ridiculously funny or meaningful, and related to our newsroom.

This includes company newsletters, job application form, employee handbook, building evacuation procedures with maps, area maps, memos, documents from stories, story budgets, business cards...

And, we're hoping, letters from newsroommates.

The trunk is extremely full right now and only envelopes and extremely small items can be added. The trunk will be locked tomorrow afternoon. The trunk will stay with me and the keys will go to one of our breaking news editors, Nancy Malone.

You'll probably hear from someone else about what will happen to Daily Briefing. Farewell!
