Posted at Avista Defends Rate Hike Requests by Binkyboy at 25 Jul 9:16 AM: regulations imposed by Federal and state laws.
Oil based gasoline (petroleum) isn't regulated and so is allowed to wildly fluctuate in accordance with supply/demand and price fixing.

Posted at Gozzer Exec: Man Was Threatening Crowd by disgusted at 25 Jul 9:05 AM: Does anybody else find this story and it's defense obsurd? What are children doing at a bar at 11:00 p.m.? If Holloran was really concerned about the safety of children, he should have sent them home instead. Monkey see, Monkey do. Holloran just taught those children that you go to a bar, get drunk, then start a fight. Disgusting...
If Americans are concerned about the youth in America, one must know that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Posted at Gozzer Exec: Man Was Threatening Crowd by Dubious at 25 Jul 9:01 AM: This sounds a lot like high pay lawyer spin to me. No matter which way you slice it, this is not good PR for Gozzer and won't do much to repair the damage to their reputation from having their black escalades roaring through town or trying to commandier the public docks at 3rd street.
Posted at Local Blogs -- 7/24/08 by The Stickman at 25 Jul 9:01 AM: It's the feeling of all that power. As a 19 year old I drove a tank in Vietnam and that feeling has never left me. Over there the governors were taken off and you could drive a bit faster than in the states, when all you did was crawl basically. Again, the speed and power of giant machines will always fascinate us boys. And girls.
Posted at Avista Defends Rate Hike Requests by Bjorn at 25 Jul 8:51 AM: I don't understand why our rates aren't in constant flux like gasoline prices are?
Posted at Tap 'Er Light by CoeurGenx at 25 Jul 8:50 AM: you're sitting by the stage at Fred's in Montana
Posted at Headlines @ Closin' Time -- 7/24/08 by The Stickman at 25 Jul 8:49 AM: Back in my younger days I was a white water rafting nut, sometimes every weekend. I miss it now, but I do have the memories and it was something that always got your heart pumping.
Posted at Gozzer Exec: Man Was Threatening Crowd by CoeurGenx at 25 Jul 8:45 AM: haha thats funny how Pat's infectious smile can be considered threatening to children. What are they going to come up with next? I like Gozzer ( the golf course ) and I like Eddies and go quite a bit with friends, however-this still is little CdA and we earn our trust and respect around here!
Posted at Tap 'Er Light by The Stickman at 25 Jul 8:43 AM: Though I don't indulge anymore, it was usually on a hot day when the beer has been in the freezer for exactly 20 mintes and the first cold drink almost paralyzes you with the coldness.
Posted at Dennis' SOS: Getting Off Sali Phone List by sue at 25 Jul 8:36 AM: I got one, too, and agree w/ Arpie. I don't like either flavor of those phone calls.
Posted at Parting Shot -- 7/24/08 by The Stickman at 25 Jul 8:35 AM: Toadman and Binkyboy, very nice comments indeed. We are all here together, no matter how small. I was like Toadman back in the day, stepped on things I didn't like and generally never thought of other beings. Now, I never even step on an ant. If a bee or a spider is in the house, I carefully make sure I take it outside and give it another chance. Maybe becoming a vegetarian many years ago made me stop and think a bit more about how we all interact, but I like what I have become.
Posted at Local Blogs -- 7/24/08 by Cis at 25 Jul 8:27 AM: Actually Whippersnapper, there are a lot of us women who are... I love loud pipes... ran a pickup with straight Smitty's for years... and yes, I too, will be looking to see what they are doing.. but not as close up as most guys...
I wonder... if it was a women who was operating it the equipment ... would we women be incline to step up closer to see what she is doing?
Posted at Wild Card/Thursday -- 7/24/08 by The Stickman at 25 Jul 8:15 AM: Thanks for the links Marmite, I will take the tour as you suggested. I have been through your area a long time ago and loved it.
Posted at Dennis' SOS: Getting Off Sali Phone List by Arpie at 25 Jul 8:01 AM: I received a call just before I read this thread. Most obnoxious. Almost as bad as those anti Sali calls I've been getting from some independent group.
Posted at Parting Shot -- 7/24/08 by toadman at 25 Jul 8:00 AM: We used to run over migrating tarantulas on country roads when I was a kid growing up in Texas. They made little popping sounds as our tires crushed their exoskeletons.
Stupid things you do when you're a teenager, right? I'd never do that now. Watching thousands of man-hand-sized tarantulas crawl across a county road these days would be something I'd take video and pictures of...not destroy.
Posted at Dennis' SOS: Getting Off Sali Phone List by ThomG at 25 Jul 7:55 AM: Has ThomG ever been invited?
No, I have not. And as Duane Rasmussen pointed out, Mr. Sali is my Congressman, too. Shouldn't he be calling all constituents, if he calls any constituents? And if he is using a database to call only those constituents identified as Republicans, or if he is not calling those constituents identified as Democrats, shouldn't he be paying for those calls with campaign dollars and not federal Tax dollars?
Posted at Dennis' SOS: Getting Off Sali Phone List by MamaJD at 25 Jul 7:32 AM: Oh yeah - perhaps calling some of these people might help speed up the process:
Wayne Hoffman - Communications Director
Bill Kinney - State Assistant
Kitty Kunz – Staff Assistant
802 W. Bannock, Suite 101
Boise, ID 83702
Ph. (208) 336-9831
Posted at Dennis' SOS: Getting Off Sali Phone List by MamaJD at 25 Jul 7:28 AM: How many other people are "invited" to participate in a town hall meeting with Sali? Is anyone else getting these calls? Has ThomG ever been invited? I'm just wondering what type of database is used to call Idahoans.
Posted at Dennis' SOS: Getting Off Sali Phone List by MamaJD at 25 Jul 7:26 AM: Why don't you call the Attorney General's office as you would with any other unsolicited call you may get at home? Sali wouldn't fit the definition of a telemarketer, but perhaps the AG could help put you in touch with the right person who can pull your name from the list.
Posted at Dennis' SOS: Getting Off Sali Phone List by Binkyboy at 25 Jul 7:23 AM: Send him a donation a week for a penny and a letter asking him to take you off his calling list.
It costs him more to accept the charges from credit card donations than it will ever cost you.
I'm not sure it will get the point across any faster, but draining his coffers a few cents at a time doesn't bother me one bit.
Posted at Parting Shot -- 7/24/08 by Binkyboy at 25 Jul 7:21 AM: Nature will do what it has to survive, and in this case man unknowingly gave that spider the life saving fence.
What does go untold in disasters are the countless animals that are killed and their environments destroyed for a long time. Pictures like this just tend to remind me that the little things need to be remembered during tragedies.

Posted at Tribe Wants Commissioner Buell's Wife Charged by Smack Dab at 25 Jul 5:52 AM: The Coeur D'Alenes are some of the savviest natives around and a real success story despite the considerable efforts of jerks like the Buell clique to hold them back an d "keep 'em down." Witness their Community Health Center and outstanding medical clinic - neither of which were built with, or are supported by, casino funds.
Certainly there is a certain amount of bigotry amongst the natives, but they don't let it get in the way of progress. If a white person is competent and respectful he or she can find a place amongst them and earn a good living - and be treated like a regular human being.
Sadly, the converse does not hold. You rarely see natives in St Maries either working or shopping. Why? Because they're so often treated like the nasty "Indians" by bigoted whites. Shopkeepers make them unwelcome. Idiots make rude, racist comments on the streets. It's an embarrassment of truly nauseating proportions when you dig into it and realize just how ugly and shallow so many people still are when it comes to things like "race."
(Note: In my experience natives have never been treated with anything but normal respect at the hospital in St Maries, an proud exception to the local standard.)
There will be many offended by the charge of "racism." Hypocrites who will proudly brag of their photo op with local hero Vern Baker, black CMOH winner - then turn around and make sneering comments about "dirty Indians." To hell with them. We're calling a spade a spade - and St Maries is a shovel with a lot of mud clinging to it.
Posted at Tribe Wants Commissioner Buell's Wife Charged by just me jt at 25 Jul 3:28 AM: What I haven't seen here is the word 'entitled' in connection with the name Buell. Since it seems to be glaring like a neon light in the middle of their foreheads, I'm a little surprised no one mentioned it! Take this Idaho neo-con off of taxpayer funded life support; pull the plug!
