About this race: Republican incumbent Joe Schmick is facing his first election after being appointed to the seat last November to replace state Rep. David Buri, R-Colfax, who stepped down mid-term. Democrat Tyana Kelley trailed Schmick in the three-way primary but outpolled a Green Party candidate to advance to the general election.
Constituency: Covers the southeast corner of the state, including southern Spokane, Whitman, Adams, Garfield, Asotin and parts of Franklin county.
