Idaho 1st Legislative District House Seat A

About this race: It’s a third-time rematch: Democratic challenger Steve Elgar, who lost to Republican incumbent Eric Anderson by only a fraction of a percentage point two years ago after a narrow loss in 2004, is mounting another challenge this year. Anderson has focused on fighting invasive species like milfoil in lakes, while Elgar objects to the chemicals the efforts are putting in the lakes and faults Anderson and other lawmakers for being influenced by big business lobbyists.

Constituency: Boundary County and parts of Bonner County in North Idaho.

Salary: $15,646 per year, plus housing costs during session and $1,700 for office expenses
