Idaho 2nd Legislative District Senate
About this race: Incumbent Joyce Broadsword, R-Cocolalla, is challenged by Democrat Rand Lewis, who cites his past experience in conflict resolution and training as a negotiator as key to helping legislators begin “working across the aisle to meet the needs of our constituencies.” Lewis promises to listen to his constituents and represent their desires instead of his own. Broadsword has held key positions on several committees, including the Joint Finance and Appropriations committee and chairs the Health and Welfare Committee. Key issues for Lewis are education, health care and livable wages. Broadsword wants to re-examine the property tax system so homeowners don’t see huge jumps in property values and taxes and she supports increased daycare regulations.
Constituency: Shoshone and Benewah counties, and part of Bonner County.
