Idaho 4th Legislative District Senate

About this race: Incumbent John Goedde, R-Coeur d’Alene, says as chair of the Senate Education Committee he works hard on getting the “best bang for the buck.” He supports highway improvements and wants to keep Idaho a good place to do business. Democratic challenger Ken Howard, an attorney, is hoping to unseat Goedde, as is Independent candidate Jeremy Boggess. A grandfather of 11 and father of four, Howard says the “education system is in serious need beyond some help that’s being given to it” by Goedde. Howard wants to increase state education spending. Boggess lacks political experience, but he says he attends a lot of community meetings and advocates bipartisan public forums, life-imprisonment for pedophiles but putting nonviolent criminal to work instead of locking them up. He also wants all taxing issues put to a public vote and supports impact fees.

Constituency: Includes most of the city of Coeur d'Alene
