- HANSEN,
- Gene M.
(Age 83)September 19th, 1926-November 16th, 2009 If all GOOD things come to an end, and the corollary (evil lives forever) is true; then we are all blessed who pass from this earth. Gene was blessed November 16, 2009, as were those who loved him: Shirley who called him husband for 52 years; Kerry Hansen, Reg Hansen (Spokane), Steve and Teresita Hansen (Spokane), Ron and Peachie Kissock (Butte, MT) who called him Dad; Alyssia Hansen (Spokane), Holly and Seth White (Spokane), Nicholle and Hal Knauth (Bigfork, MT), Cody and Holly Kissock (Rocker, MT) who called him Grandpa; Conner, Emma, Kyler, and Gracie who called him Papa; and numerous friends and relatives who called him --- among other things --- Gene, Geno, Jack, and Dogface. He provided for his family. Money was not always readily available, but he toiled as an operating engineer laying pavement for S&F and Inland Asphalt companies and later on the county paving crew; plowing snow at night and for the county; leveling and grading yards and parking lots; brokering vehicle and real estate deals; and teaching untrained and troubled youth as a coordinator for the National Youth Conservation Corps to make ends meet. We didn't always have what we wanted, but we always had what we needed!A veteran of the United States Army Air Corps (1946), he leveraged skills he learned growing up to become an Airplane and Engine Mechanic. Those skills served him well operating the Mead Race Track (along with his father Clarence and mother Jessie) His memories of the race track stuck with him all his life. He looked forward to the running of the Indy 500 and talked of popular racers that could trace their roots back to the Mead Track. He enjoyed hunting --- particularly game birds --- horses, motorcycling, boating, games of chance, sledding, skating, auctions and involved his family in those activities. He taught us all the value of a buck and how to earn one.In 1971, Don McLean sang about "The Day the Music Died" when a plane crashed in 1959. For Gene and for us, the music died in a car wreck in 1982 and resulted in the death of his son Kerry. Gene spent the remainder of his days searching for the music and struggled to "Make peace with his Maker" as the plaque on his wall urged. Now --- at last --- he has found the music. Re-united with Kerry, he can finally make peace! We find comfort in knowing he will rest happily, interned with Kerry at Riverside Memorial Park. At his request, no memorial services will be conducted, but he'll be waiting at Riverside if you'd like to stop by and say "Hello!" from time to time.SPOKANE CREMATION & BURIAL SERVICE, 2832 N. - BEAMER,
-
Louise-
(Age 95)- Louise Kerr Beamer, 95, passed away peacefully November 16, 2009 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to James G. and Josie Kerr and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Louise remained proud of her Norwegian heritage and strong family ties.
- Louise moved to Wallace, Idaho in 1940 when she married her husband of 48 years, William C. Beamer. Wallace welcomed her warmly as a new bride and she was soon active in church organizations, sewing and bridge clubs, Gyro groups, Wallace Lady Elks, Library Board and skiing events.
- Louise worked at Hecla Mining Company as a switchboard operator during the war, showing her deep love for country and patriotic pride. Later, she served on the Wallace Election Board. But her passion in life was to create a happy home, take care of her family and share in their accomplishments. Louise prided herself on being an excellent seamstress. Her daughters have fond memories of the handmade dresses, bathrobes and coats they proudly wore from grade school through college years. Nobody could starch a petticoat like mom. Shiny black patent leather shoes and white socks were the dress code for church every Sunday.
- Mom loved to cook; Sunday afternoon the family could be found enjoying a picnic in Pottsville. Camping and fishing trips to the river brought the family together. Louise made long lasting friendships. She kept in touch with friends of her youth for over eighty years and was a fifty year member of PEO.
- Her faith was important to her. She served as Sunday school teacher, wedding director, deaconess, Corinthians member and officer for the United Church of Christ Congregational of Wallace.
- Her close family will continue the traditions she treasured and will miss being able to talk, reminisce and share their lives with her. Watching mom these last few years, we have learned life lessons about facing adversity with grace, humor and a positive attitude.
- A caring mother, devoted grandmother and beloved sister, Louise is survived by daughters, Carol Wellman (Mike) of Chesterfield, Virginia and Kathy Hickman (Dale) of Coeur d'Alene, along with granddaughters, Allison Wellman, Richmond, Virginia and Stacie Wellman, Alexandria, Virginia and sister, Jayne Welsh of Montevideo, Minnesota.

- GLEASON, Donald Fredrick
(Age 69)Born November 26, 1939 in Seattle, WA, Donald passed unexpectedly on November 16, 2009 surrounded by family and dear friends. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Susan, sons Michael and Ryan, daughters Sharon and Juli, and grandchildren Taylor and Andrew. A 48 year resident of Spokane, Don was a manufacturers representative for many lighting fixture companies and was the president of the Spokane Construction Council in 1984. Don loved the outdoors. An avid hunter up until his love of sailing and skiing took up more of his free time. He raced sailboats on Lake Coeur D'Alene with family and friends as crew, rarely yelling about missed spinnaker sets. He skied all over the northwest. His annual trips to Nelson, BC with the other "Ugly Americans" were always the highlight of his year, and he loved to tell their stories. Dogs were one of his greatest enjoyments in life. While training hunting dogs was among his past jobs, he truly excelled in training hunting dogs in the fine art of the lazy life, his Vizsla Kelli being a crowning achievement. Don loved his friends and family. Quick to give everyone a hard time, it was his ability to receive, as well as give, which provided him with a wealth of good friends. All of whom will miss him just as much as his family. |
