

- LEE, Charles Denny
- Traveling with friends in Arizona, Denny became ill in Tucson. He was flown to Scottsdale and passed away February 17, 2008. Denny was born in Santa Rosa, CA, June 3, 1939 but spent most of his youth and all school years in Patterson, CA. At the age of 17 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Other than stateside tours he spent nine years overseas in Okinawa, Vietnam, and Japan. In all he spent 20 years in the Corps. During his enlistment he served in the Infantry, was a Cook, worked in Communications and lastly as a Recruiter in South Dakota. He retired from the Marines July of 1976. A good friend, Jim VanRiper, suggested that we come to the Northwest and was instrumental in getting an interview with Garco Building, Inc. He started work April 1978 and retired from Garco June 2001. Travel was the goal after retirement and many happy miles were spent wandering around the US. From early childhood he was a true hunter and fisherman, often hunting and fishing with his father and sons. His parents, Dollie and Alan Lee, his sister Norma Ruth and his first wife, Ruth Lucille all preceded him in death. Surviving are his sisters: Lena Belle Chapman of Spring Valley, CA, Doris Dreyer of Fryeburg, Maine, Beverly Sanders of Susanville, CA; wife, Janice; son David of Spokane and six children that were his by love and choice, Roy Folmer of Colfax, CA, Cheryl Smetac of Apache Junction, AZ, Brian Folmer of Corinth, TX, Lori of Hawaii, Sheri Kantner of Spokane, WA and Tammy Crider of Spokane, WA; aunts Dixie Reichmuth and Louise Watson of Patterson, CA; and many grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. A celebration of life and get together will be at Mission Park under the gazebo across from the Academy, July 19th from 11:00 to 3:00.
